JIM NOBLE TRIBUTE

Our Heavenly Father sometimes works in mysterious ways. Perhaps only once in a lifetime do you meet someone who unexpectedly, and immediately overwhelms you with his warmth and friendship.  Little more than two years ago I was blessed with just such an experience.  I met Jim Noble.

At first, walking up to shake his hand, I felt a little embarrassed.  There I was, nearly a hundred pounds overweight, long hair hanging well into the small of my back, and a beard that hadn't been trimmed in six months.  In front of me, standing with hand outstretched, was a clean cut, properly dressed, Knight of Columbus sporting the biggest, friendliest smile I’d ever seen.  Good God - I cringed, what must he think of me.  This is really gonna be something.

I soon found out exactly what is WAS going to be.  We spent that afternoon together, talking about his beloved Knights of Columbus, meeting family and friends, and finally getting introductions to the members of The Santa Anna Council #4461, who's picnic this was.

I'd heard about the "Picnic in Penn Pines Park" at my Parish just the week before.  Curiosity struck, a Saturday free, I called a Parish member and had myself and my wife invited.  The rest is history. I joined the Knights, and rapidly got my:  1st. 2nd. 3rd. and 4th. Degree.

Jim Noble was always at my side, attending every function and coaching me through each step.  I had a friend!

Jim Noble, what can be said of him.  We prayed with him. We laughed with him. We loved him. We'll miss him.

Now that he's gone - we recognize how very much he did for our Council and Community, all without ever getting credit.  Organizing picnics and parties.  Securing reservations for 4th. Degree exemplifications and overseeing logistics for many other Knight activities . In addition he could be seen paying bills, and collecting payments (dues, chances, tickets magnets, you name it) handing out literature, and even replacing our communities worn-out flags.  That was Jim.

He's gone now and WE SURE NOTICE IT!  He served the seats of Santa Anna's Council all the way to becoming Grand Knight, then went through Cardinal Dougherty Assembly's chairs right up to - Faithful Navigator.  That was Jim.

Let's memorialize our Jim Noble.  Santa Anna Knights, Knights from other Councils, Cardinal Dougherty members, and friends, we're asking for a $5.00 contribution that we might place a Tribute to Jim in East Lansdowne's Annual 4th. of July Program and add book.

It's fitting that we show Janet and family, that we'll never forget how wonderful a Man, and outstanding a Brother Knight, our Jim was for all of us.  What better way to do this - than in print - in a program the entire East Lansdowne Community can see?

Deadline for donations would have to be no later than May 21st. our meeting night for that month. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your consideration. Additional information can be obtained through Mike Keller.

GRAND KNIGHTS MESSAGE FOR APRIL 2010

To my Brother Knights and their families:

In my last message I really complained about snow. This month I am complaining about rain. I guarantee I will never complain about too much sunshine.

During Lent we prepare for the holiest time of the Church year, the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday. Our attendance at the Holy Week services, along with our family, will help to reaffirm our faith and pray for peace on earth.

I wish you and your family a happy and Blessed Easter.

I look forward to seeing everyone at St. Cyril’s on April 8, 2010.

Yours in Christ,
Dennis Schaeffer, GK

FATHER DOMINIC

Congratulations to our own Chaplain, Reverend Dominic Tran Minh Duc who took his 3rd Degree on Sunday, March 7th. Father is very proud to be a Knight and we are even more honored to have him as our Chaplain

JOKE OF THE MONTH

Gallagher was walking through an Irish graveyard when he comes across a headstone with the inscription "HERE LIES A POLITICIAN AND AN HONEST MAN" ‘Faith now’ exclaims Gallagher. ‘I wonder how they got the two of them in one grave’.

A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party. When she saw her dad donning a tux she warned…Daddy, you shouldn’t wear that suit. He asked why? And she said you know that it always gives you a headache the next morning.
